Questions:
*Keep in mind- these are ideas and may not be exact but examples. The days will be packed with fun though.
How old do I have to be to attend camp? 3-18 years old in SL years. (You must be potty trained and be able to fill out information in non baby talk)
Can I be a sponsor? Yes- I would love for you to sponsor. You can sponsor many ways, by donating crafts, prizes, or lindens. To the left is a link to a sponsorship page application.
What is a typical day like? You will wake up bright and early, Dress for theme, Eat breakfast, Do a craft/game, Lunch, Cabin Competitions, Dinner, Free Time (w/cabin)- Sign up options available, Cabin Campfire time, Letters Home, Quiet Time, Lights Out
Can I leave camp? Yes- If you absolutely must leave camp please fill out a notecard provided in the office and sign out and back in once you return. (We do not stop camp for you-activities will resume as usual, if you miss an activity that is up to you.) I ask that you do everything ahead of time that you can but I understand, rent, breed-able pets, weddings, and family emergencies.
When I pay for camp for 1,000 lindens what does it include? Camp Outfit, Cabin Photo, Hot Chocolate Mug Keepsake, Camp Crafts, Prizes your Cabin Might Win, Access to the Sim, Invite into group, Cabin Decorations, A Bed/Cabin to sleep in. ........Priceless: The memories..........
What if I do not live in USA, will there still be activities when I am awake? Yes, there will be. We have multiple kids who have asked this question- what the activities will be determines on how many people sign up from other countries but I will have staff on 24/7 during all 3 weeks.
How do I fund-raise my payment for camp? First make sure to sign up for the week you wish to attend. Then contact me (Mackenzie Aura) and make sure I know. Then you will advertise for Mackenzie's Attic on Marketplace https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/80672 . If people buy a product that you have advertised for and that buyer sends me an IM AND notecard with YOUR name on it, then that will be deducted from the 1,000 lindens.
What if I don't reach my goal for fundraising? If you do not reach your goal the leftover amount owed will need to be payed. It is not possible to get a refund on fund-raised payments for camp.
What if I pay for camp and decide I am unable to go? If camp has not started and you PAID for camp (not fund raised) then you are eligible for a refund. Please contact Mackenzie Aura about this.
When is the last day to sign up for camp? You can sign up for camp until the day before camp starts. I would suggest signing up sooner than later due to the potential of running out of slots.
Can I see the camp before I apply? The camp is not actually set up until 1 week before the weeks start. This is my first year running this camp (2012), which means I have no past photos to share yet. I can let you know that we plan on having a safe and fun camp though with lots of activities.
What type of activities can I expect to participate in at camp? There will be water/beach activities, sports activities, free time, contests, competitions, games, adventure activities. I do not want to ruin the surprise, but if you would like more details please IM Mackenzie Aura about specifics.
Will there be crafts? Yes there will be a craft shop- exact crafts are unknown at this point, but you will be making stuff (as in building) to a limited degree. Basic building skills will help, but are not necessary because there will be staff to help you.
Will I need to have a specific viewer? As long as you can see both Mesh and Web Enabled Surfaces you are good to go. This basically means any viewer version 3 or higher. Please plan on downloading a viewer before coming to camp as this could take away from your camp experience.
Will I need to have any building skills? See will there be crafts question 2 up. There will be directions included in every craft.
Will I need to have any Photoshop/gimp skills? It never hurts to come prepared with basic knowledge. For those of you going, Photoshop oh gee that's expensive. That is also why I wrote gimp here- gimp is a very basic Photoshop type program that is available free for download. The nice thing about these programs is you can draw with brushes like paint, chalk, etc. and for an extra 10 lindens staff can bake these drawings onto products you made. All products that have baking time will be finished by Saturday morning at the latest.
Does the camp support a charity? Yes we support Relay For Life, we are teaming up with Camp Hardknock's Team this summer. There will be a donation booth for that in the dining hall.
Do you allow mesh avatars? I am allowing mesh avatars, please keep in mind I want all avatars to be at least 3 years old. We do not role play changing diapers and other baby behaviors. You must be willing to speak like a 6 year old and very clear. I cannot guarantee anything pose wise, or clothing wise will fit your specific avatar. I am trying my best to work with different designers on the grid to make that possible. When signing up you should make note that you are a mesh avatar, or send me an IM let me know what BRAND mesh avatar you are.
What is the primary language spoken and written at camp? English! Please if you are from another country make sure you know English, if you do not camp will be more difficult for you.
Will staff/speakers/counselors/entertainers be on voice? I personally will not be on voice- my guess is most speakers will go on voice. If you need someone to type due to a hearing impairment please contact Mackenzie Aura ahead of camp to arrange this. It is best to make sure you can hear before logging on for camp and before camp starts test it. If you have any questions about how to hear voice please contact Mackenzie Aura.
Do we need to have sound turned on when at camp? We will have songs and music at camp, also there may be nature sounds. To get the full experience of camp it is best if you have sound on and music enabled. It is best to make sure you can hear before logging on for camp and before camp starts test it. If you have any questions about how to hear music please contact Mackenzie Aura.
Mackenzie, What is your belief/Why are you running a Christian Camp Week? I believe the bible is true, and that there is 1 God, The trinity, I believe we can ask God into our hearts and we will be saved not because of works but because of belief. I grew up in a non denominational church until middle school- then at my request my parents switched churches. We then attended an evangelical free church, and I was involved in the youth group there. I became student leadership in the youth group when I was in high school. I also attended Sunday school growing up. I then started college and was involved in this group called the Navigators- which was a Christian group- I was leadership also in that group for a year. I also ran a young adult bible study at my home church. I worked at a Christian camp for 4 summers. I also attended camp as a camper for 4 times at Christian camps. If you would like to know more about my beliefs please send me an IM. I am running this camp because I have a passion for sharing the love of God, and His message to others. I hope that you will consider attending the Christian week even if you are not a Christian. Nothing is being pushed on anyone-- and it is a safe environment with many fun activities.
This is a non-profit camp. All money paid goes into the camp for basic camp needs to be able to run and to staff who help to run it.
